John Crangle is a seasoned attorney representing clients charged with a wide range of criminal offenses, from minor traffic violations to serious murder charges. With extensive trial experience, John has worked as the lead attorney in over 10 jury trials in General Sessions, in addition to numerous bench trials in Magistrate and Municipal Courts
John’s primary focus is on DUI Defense and Criminal Defense, and he has a proven track record of securing not-guilty verdicts in both DUI and criminal trials.
Born and raised in Lexington, SC, John attended Clemson University and later earned his law degree with honors from Emory Law School. Following his graduation, he gained valuable experience as an Assistant Public Defender at the Greenville Public Defender’s Office. During his time there, John represented clients facing a wide array of charges, including murder, drug trafficking, criminal sexual conduct, DUI, domestic violence, fraud, and other criminal charges.
In 2016, John joined Ronnie as an associate attorney, and in 2021, they formed the Cole & Crangle Law Firm where John became a partner.
Outside of his legal work, John is an avid fan of Clemson football and enjoys playing soccer and cycling. He resides in Greenville with his wife and two sons.
With over four decades of legal experience since beginning his practice in 1976, Ronnie Cole brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Cole & Crangle Law Firm. He served as an instructor for the South Carolina Court Administration, where he educated Magistrates and Municipal Court Judges on traffic and criminal law matters. Ronnie’s insights have garnered attention from various media outlets, including interviews with television stations and USA Today.
In 2021, Ronnie and John formed a partnership and established Cole & Crangle Law Firm, with John taking the lead as the primary attorney.
As of 2024, Ronnie has transitioned into the role Of Counsel, providing valuable assistance and guidance to John particularly in DUI cases. His extensive experience and contributions continue to enhance the firm’s capabilities in delivering effective legal representation to their clients.

Mike Hallman is a distinguished attorney who graduated from Wofford College and earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Mr. Hallman embarked on his legal career as an Assistant Solicitor with the Office of the 13th Circuit Solicitor, where he honed his skills for three years. Subsequently, he ventured into private practice, establishing his own general law practice as a sole practitioner, adeptly handling civil and criminal cases. During this time, Mr. Hallman also served as the Municipal Judge for the City of Greer, S.C., for an impressive 12-year tenure.
He also served as an Assistant Solicitor, under contract with the Office of the 13th Circuit Solicitor from 2003 to 2008 where he prosecuted DUI cases.
Currently, Mr. Hallman leads the office of the Cole & Crangle Law Firm situated in Greenville, S.C. He possesses specialized training in DUI Detection, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, and is well-versed in operating the DataMaster, South Carolina’s breath test machine.
Continuously demonstrating his prowess, Mr. Hallman consistently achieves favorable outcomes through adept negotiation and successful trial representation.
Stan Overby became an esteemed member of Cole & Crangle Law Firm in 2022, bringing with him invaluable experience. Before joining our team, Stan served as the Lead Traffic and DUI Prosecutor in Anderson County, showcasing his skills in handling these complex legal matters.
In 2012, after his clerkship with Judge Verdin, he began prosecuting for the Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where he worked as a magistrate court DUI prosecutor. During that time, he prosecuted hundreds of DUI cases and other traffic offenses, including over twenty to jury trial. He then worked in the General Sessions Domestic Violence Unit and eventually moved in to the Vehicular Crimes Unit, where he prosecuted numerous offenses including all levels of Domestic Violence, Felony DUI, Reckless Homicide, Leaving the Scene, Armed Robbery, and Murder for Hire. During this time he became extensively familiar with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST), and also audited ARIDE with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Mr. Overby was on the trial team for State v. McCall, 429 S.C. 404 (S.C. 2020), which was eventually decided at the Supreme Court of South Carolina, an important case involving the constitutionality of blood draws in DUI investigations.
In 2016, Mr. Overby was hired by Tenth Circuit Solicitor David Wagner to be the primary vehicular crimes prosecutor for Anderson County. During this time he handled all General Sessions level traffic offenses, assisted and advised in the prosecution of summary court level DUI cases, and carried a violent crime docket. Mr. Overby continued his jury trial work in Anderson, to include DUI, Murder, Armed Robbery, and Assault and Battery by vehicle. He also prosecuted several major Felony DUI cases and Murder cases to their resolution. Mr. Overby was a frequent speaker for the South Carolina Commission on Prosecution Coordination on issues related to DUI cases.
In 2022, Mr. Overby left to join the Cole and Crangle Law Firm. Since that time he has vigorously defended the rights of his clients and has used his experience to educate, advocate, and advise them to positive results. Mr. Overby has also provided training for Magistrates in South Carolina on DUI related issues, as well as for Law Enforcement on the application of DUI investigations to the courtroom.
Stan Overby began his legal practice in 2011 as the first clerk for then Circuit Court Judge Letitia Verdin, who is now a member of the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
Jacque embarked on her legal journey in 2002, initially serving as a legal assistant to attorney Ronnie Cole. Recognizing her talent and dedication, she was promoted to office manager in 2008 and has continued in that pivotal role at Cole & Crangle Law Firm ever since.
As the office manager, Jacque plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of daily operations. She meticulously coordinates tasks such as timely filing of court documents, preparation of files for court appearances, and keeping clients informed and updated on their cases.
Originally hailing from Ohio, Jacque found her true home in South Carolina and has embraced the local community wholeheartedly. Outside of work, she indulges in various interests including reading, traveling, savoring fine dining experiences, honing her culinary skills through cooking and baking, and nurturing her love for gardening.
Brooke is responsible for managing our General Sessions cases and overseeing client billing at Cole & Crangle Law Firm, a role she has excelled in since joining our team in 2016.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Brooke finds joy in staying active by working out and playing sports. She appreciates spending time outdoors, exploring new places through travel, and cherishing moments with her loved ones, friends, and family.
Rhonda has been an integral part of our firm since 2009, where she is primarily tasked with managing our municipal and magistrate court cases with precision and expertise.
Originally from Michigan, Rhonda made South Carolina her home 16 years ago, embracing the vibrant culture and opportunities the state has to offer. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys indulging in outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and hiking, allowing her to immerse herself in nature and rejuvenate her spirit.
Alexia is a valued member of Cole & Crangle Law Firm, serving as a dedicated office assistant. Her responsibilities include assisting with filing documents and preparing paperwork, ensuring that our legal processes run smoothly and efficiently.
